The year is picking up pace now, and February saw five more releases catching my eye.
None60, Silent Dust’s label, made their first foray into 2014 with a brand new single from Sinistarr and themselves. Breaky and Jungley, this one continues the vein that None60 has been cutting through the jungle and footwork sounds effortlessly. On the flip Sinistarr remixes Love Sundered with his trademark intricate and impressive style.
After a quiet year exploring other genres in 2013; Lynx makes a triumphant return to the world of DnB with his new single Shimmy on Ram. This one is full of bounce and, as ever with Lynx, perfectly executed. I find the disco dodoesque flip a bit intense for home listening, but I could imagine it causing some damage in the dance.
Bristol’s Intrigue crew celebrate their 11th birthday this year and have marked the occasion by releasing 11 exclusive tracks including Break and Random Movement on the remixes and tunes from Quadrant, Soundscape, The Insiders, Eveson, Bachelors Of Science and more. A well collated collection of tracks with a a rich variety of styles and sounds.
Sticking with the Bristol lot it’s been a busy month for Mako, Villem and DLR. The three of them teamed up with Ant TC1 for Hungry With Atmosphere and managed to come up with a stomper.
Last but not least a realease, which has comfortably contrasted the drum and bass of the last two months. Kerri Chandler’s mix for Berlin’s infamous Watergate club is out now.
